Who We Are

The first step in a renovation project is planning and design. You can use us for design services or present us with a design. We will make sure any third party design is easily manufacturable to save time, money and future potential problems. We can offer suggestions if you are designing it yourself. The design layout will determine how functional your bathroom is, how much time it will take to build and a significant portion of the cost. Design selection will determine the style of your bathroom.

If it’s not done right, demolition can cause extra work. The design must be complete before demolition starts. You can do the demolition yourself to save money but we will make sure you are doing the right things and in the correct way. We isolate the area under construction if walls are being moved and keep the site clean so that you can go about your daily life. Demolishing bathrooms in older homes takes longer due to materials that were used when the original building was made. We use the correct equipment to get this right and keep it right throughout the renovation project.

Actual Construction – 2 to 4 weeks

We will estimate the time for the project. Since this is renovation, unexpected situations can arise, but our experience limits this to a minimum. Have some flexibility in your schedule to account for possible changes. Design changes should not be introduced at this point since they can cause additional delays, rework and extra charge.

The following stages make up the construction stage:

Plumbing Rough Ins and Rough Carpentry – The plumber will rough in pipes and drains before the skeleton of your bathroom is created. Rough carpentry may start before the plumbing rough is finished if fixtures and walls are being moved. This portion requires at least two days to 5 days.
Electrical – The electrician wires up lighting and power and may require two visits if there is rewiring from the electrical panel.
Insulation – Insulation keeps this room warm. The choice of insulation will depend on the bathroom design. Putting up insulation takes just a few hours, even in a large bathroom.
Flooring Prep. The floor will be levelled and reinforced to receive the tiles.
Drywall and Mudding – Once insulation is up, drywall can be hung and joints plastered. Hanging drywall takes just one day, but the plaster application and sanding requires two to three more days.
Tile Installation – Tile substrate is installed in the shower and bath areas and the tiles are placed. Installation requires two or three days, including grouting.
Painting – The ceiling and walls are painted.
Cabinet Installation – Vanities and wall cabinets are mounted next, often within one day.
Plumbing Fixture Hook Ups – Fixtures get hooked up last, with toilet installation, sink and faucet hook up closing out the project in one or two days.

Most of the construction is now complete, hanging light fixtures, finishing the electrical outlets, towel bars and putting up mirrors will put the finishing touches on your bathroom renovation.

From the planning and design stage (1 week) to the ordering and delivery of materials (1 to 4 weeks), actual construction (2 to 4 weeks) and finishing stages (2 or 4 days), planing the project timeline is critical to success.
